National Facilities Manager View Profile
What did you do before you joined esure?
I joined esure in April 2001 having previously worked for BT maintaining their office accommodation before progressing to the Facilities Management team. When I left school, I completed an apprenticeship in Heating and Air conditioning design/installation for a company based in west London.
What sort of things does your job involve?
Facilities management is a very wide field which incorporates most things you would associate with a large building from the maintenance of the building structure together with all of the mechanical & electrical items contained within it such as air conditioning, lifts, power etc. through to the cleaning and catering facilities. As you would expect this has its challenges keeping up to date with new legislation and compliance but at the end of the day our role is to make sure that our staff have a safe and pleasant environment to work in which enables them to carry out there various functions.
What do you like most about your job?
Variety is the thing I most like about my job. It's a cliché but no matter how well you plan your workload, you really do not know what issues you could be dealing with from one day to the next ,so you have to learn how to deal with the unexpected.
What's it like to work at esure?
Since joining esure in 2001 the company has grown significantly to become one of the leading insurance companies in the industry but has managed to retain a vibrant culture. This enables staff to suggest new ideas and gives you the feeling that you are part of a team all going in the same direction.
What do you like most about the company?
Most of all I enjoy working with the people at esure. The working environment and management style encourage hard work and new ideas which are recognised and rewarded.
How do you see your career with esure progressing?
My role has evolved with the company. I have gained valuable experience working as part of the team opening new buildings in Glasgow & Manchester and over time evolving the Facilities to suit our staff's needs, which hopefully will enable my career to progress.
What would you say to anyone who's thinking about joining esure?
I have never regretted joining esure and I don't think you will.
